He went on to say many more rude things at which point I blew my top and begggged him to call the police. To which I respond, then why would I be begging you to call my bank to verify the check? I could not believe any professional business person would ever say something like that to a customer. He then looks at me and squints his beady little eyes and says you are displaying all of the behaviors of someone trying to write a bad check. He proceeds to tell me he will not call to verify the check and I am going to have to leave my dogs until I come back with cash. This old, badly groomed, man (the owner?) comes out of the grooming room and immediately starts in about the policy, I explain my predicament and tell him that if there is a problem he can just call and verify my check but I really want my dogs back. They new I was a first time client so why wait until I come to pick up the dogs? Ok, Here is where the horror starts. So, I reiterate the fact that if only I had been told about the policy of no checks on the first visit, when I made the appointment, or told when I dropped the dogs off, or if there was even a sign, then I would not have even booked the appointment or dropped the dogs off. Anyway, back to the story, I explain that it is a local check but my bank does not have a branch here in Tennessee so I cannot just run to the bank and do a cash draw and with a hundred things left to do did not feel the need or have the time to run all over town trying to talk a check cashing place into cashing a check drawn on a University credit Union. Please keep in mind that I am an online student (for the past 2 years) and a long time Murfreesboro resident with plenty of ID to back up my local address which is on the check and my ID. A little background information, so this story makes sense as a graduate student all of my financial aid refunds, scholarships, loans and grants are funneled into a bank account through Horizon One in partnership with Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. So consequently, I was without one and since I am a graduate student I cannot afford to have high interest credit cards and do not want any until after I graduate with my MAT in Education. I explained that unfortunately, a week before my debit card from my bank was damaged and the bank advised me to destroy it before throwing it away and they would mail another one right away. The receptionist (not the one that checked my dogs in that morning) said that they could not accept a check from a first time customer. I asked the total and pulled out my check book. I was told they would be ready at 2:00 and came back promptly at that time. Happily, I arrived with my pups and dropped them off. I had a whim to have the dogs groomed before we left town so they would not shed in the car, since our regular groomer was booked, I called Safari Pet Resort and they said they had a couple of openings Thursday morning so I booked them. Myself, my husband, our 3 children (9, 8 and 5) and our 2 beloved dogs were due to leave on our family vacation first thing Friday morning. I had passed this place several times on the way to my friends house and thought it looked interesting. The owner is a horrible person and the employees are all liars that are interested only in covering their own mistakes. If you love your pet DO NOT Take them to this terrible place.
